2016年、コモンがロバートグラスパーたちとホワイトハウスの図書室でライブをしている、
最初の曲が"I used to Love H.E.R."。この曲には思い入れがある。
この曲がリリースされたのが1994年。
2001年の自分のデビューアルバムの冒頭では
"I still love H.E.R., still create H.E.R."と返した。
もうかれこれ4半世紀経つ曲だけど、
日本でも多くの人の胸の内にある曲で

みんな、そうねぇといっておそらく少し遠い目をする。
なぜならこの曲で取り上げられている彼女というのは
ただの女の子のことではなくヒップホップのことで。
視野を広げるなら、音楽のことだったり、世の中に寄り添って
変わり続ける自分のことだったりするから。
